Researchers identify the chemical acetaldehyde as the major culprit. Acetaldehyde is an extremely toxic byproduct produced from alcohol as it is metabolized within the body. Acetaldehyde is much more toxic than ethanol (alcohol) itself. If you drink enough, a build-up of acetaldehyde results and causes the common hangover symptoms. (Source).

Alcohol is a diuretic and does cause water loss within the body – possibly dehydration. Dehydration can result in many common hangover symptoms as well (dizzyness, dry mouth, etc.). We highly suggest that you drink water during and after consuming alcohol as PreToxx won't prevent dehydration.

Besides adequate water consumption, eating a meal before drinking will help to lessen the effects of alcohol consumption by slowing its absorption into the bloodstream. Foods with high cysteine content, such as eggs, will also help to prevent a hangover (PreToxx provides a large dosage of cysteine).

PreToxx works by providing the body with N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), boosting glutathione stores. Glutathione is your liver's most important antioxidant and detoxifier – its sulfur group is used to breakdown acetaldehyde. (Source).

Make sure you are taking the proper dosage of PreToxx before drinking. An intermittent glass of water should also be consumed while drinking to prevent dehydration.
